Marquette Results in 2012 Quebec Election

In 35 days of campaigning, François Ouimet spoke clearly about all the work he’s done for citizens since becoming the local MNA in 1994. That history led voters to give him a strong mandate for the Liberals yesterday. He got 15,343 votes, which was 34% of those eligible to vote in the riding (44,812 people).

The expansion and renovation of the Saul-Bellow Library, the new Collège St-Louis building, a New Sports Complex in Dorval and the renovations to the Lachine Hospital all resonated with electors who gave him the seat.

Victor Tan running for The Coalition Avenir de Québec received 15% of the vote, while Étienne Gougoux for the Parti Québecois received 14%.

Claudelle Cyr, with Quebec Solidaire reached 4%, while John Symon with the Green Party achieved near 3% for their parties, while Patrick Valois for Option Nationale came in at 2%. A total of 363 ballots were rejected.

The riding of Marquette has existed since 1980. Despite several changes, it now contains 44,812 eligible electors. Some 15% of eligible voters in the riding voted in the advance polls, which is slightly lower than the 17% average in Quebec.
