An open house for the merged Riverview Verdun elementary school will take place at 6 p.m. next Thursday, January 28 at Verdun elementary.
The event seems to indicate how fast Lester B. Pearson School Board (LBPSB) officials will implement decisions made in December
“We honestly believe that we are doing the right thing for these kids,” said LBPSB Chair Suanne Stein Day during a meeting with more than 120 Verdun community members at Riverview last week. “We don’t get the same pressure as we do when there are two schools in an area.”

Note:
Jacques Daoust, the MPP for Verdun did not personally attend the meeting, but sent Philippe Tessier, his political attaché, to hear the many ideas the community brought forward.
After hearing the comments and speaking with residents who did attend, Mr. Daoust agrees with the rest of the Verdun in that
the school board should not have taken a final decision on this until they listened to everyone. I would like them to reopen the file and give the entire community a chance to be heard.”
