Candidate office: 1513, avenue Dollard

Current LaSalle mayor Manon Barbe has served as mayor of her borough since 2003. She also served as city council for the previous city from 1995 until 2001 and then president of the borough from 2001 until 2003.

She also serves as president of the Conférence régionale des élus (CRÉ) de Montréal.

In the past few years, Barbe has led a strategic planning effort to increase economic development and maintain the number of jobs in her territory. In 2011 and 2012, building permits were worth more than $100 million, with residential towers in Quartier Angrignon, renovations to the LaSalle Hospital and improvements to the Charles-J.-Desbaillets water filtration plant contributing to the value of the local economy.

She’s also proud of attracting a new Target store to Carrefour Angrignon and a Michaels store to Complexe Angrignon.

Industrial investments are also underway in the borough, with Balcons Verdun building a new location on the corner of Saint-Patrick and Senkus and Delmar Chemical improving their facilities on rue Airlie.
