Many people in Verdun and LaSalle are hoping for good weather this weekend for three big annual events.
The Societé de Development Commercial Wellington (SDC) is holding its annual spring sidewalk sale. Saint John Brebeuf Parish is holding its annual Our Lady of the Rapids Festival. The table de concertation des aînées de LaSalle and the Brise-bois Foundation is holding its 30 km run to prevent age-related sight problems.
Verdun Sidewalk Sale
The Wellington sidewalk sale in Verdun runs from Thursday, May 29 until Sunday June 1. Most of the stores, boutiques and restaurants between will have tables set up and/or special promotions from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. There will also be artists, gardeners and a women’s graffiti celebration event near the Wellington Metro on Sunday. For more information, check out the Promenade Wellington Facebook page.
Our Lady of the Rapids Festival
The third annual celebration of Our Lady of the Rapids takes place on the LaSalle waterfront next to Saint John Brebeuf Parish, 7777 George Street from Friday, May 30 until Sunday, June 1. On Friday night, from 7 until 10 p.m., there will be a pub night and karaoke. On Saturday, they’ll hold a massive yard sale with more than 45 tables from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. A snack bar will be operated and raffle tickets will finish. At 4:30, there will be a large outdoor mass followed by an international potluck supper. On Sunday, there will a procession and BBQ with the Knights of Columbus. Defi Pierre Brise-bois
On Sunday from 8:30 in the morning until 1 p.m., runners and walkers will be running along the LaSalle waterfont for 5, 10, 15 or 30 km to raise funds for the Pierre Brise-Bois Foundation.
