The City of Montreal is holding consultations on a sustainable development plan for the next 20 years that will be adopted in early 2013. Former mayor Gerald Tremblay and former chair of the executive committee Michael Applebaum are the elected officials quoted in the online documents.

According to the “Montreal for Tomorrow” portion of the City of Montreal’s website “The Plan, drawn up in accordance with section 91 of the Charter of Ville de Montréal, has no regulatory force. It outlines a strategic development vision, based on the key aspects of the plans and policies adopted by City Council in recent years.”

A 92-page document and video in French are summarized by an 8-page document in English.

Each borough is holding consultation sessions for organizations and individuals to participate. An online discussion borough is also being hosted by Montreal until December 15.

All participants in every borough, except the Plateau, have to register to participate on the “Montreal for Tomorrow” portion of the city of Montreal’s website.

Cote des Neiges and Notre Dame de Grace, Lachine and the South West hadn’t set their consultation evenings up yet when we went to press.
